Domaine Guion, Cuvée Candide, 2020
Stéphane Guion is the fourth generation of his family to produce some of the regions finest Bourgueil.
Cabernet Franc is a tricky varietal, and the region is far north, which means cooler climate, higher acid, challenging for making delicious and rich wines. Year after year Stéphane strives to perfect his art. By reducing the number of wines he makes to just four, his focus and attention is absolute.
The Cuvée Domaine is from younger vines, some 30 years old. It shows plush red plum, damson, deep cherry, spice and cedar box. The body is sumptuous and beautifully balanced, but there’s a great energy throughout that makes this wine not just juicy and delicious, but immensely versatile and just so fun to consumer.
Brilliant with BBQ fare, red meats, stews…and with the added bonus of being able to be lightly chilled before serving.
Notes: Dry, Fruity, Medium Bodied
Pairings: BBQ Fare, White & Red Meat
